About Us
Tallgrass Archaeology LLC is the successor to Tallgrass Historians, which was established in 1993 as a historical research and environmental consulting firm by founders Jan Olive Full and Rebecca Conard. The firm was renamed Tallgrass Archaeology LLC after it was purchased by Leah D. Rogers in 2017. Since 2022, Tallgrass Archaeology LLC has been owned and operated by majority owner Cindy Nagel, and minority owners Justin Moe, James McGrath-Seegmiller, and Ray Werner. Tallgrass Archaeology employs nine full-time and one part-time staff.
Cindy Nagel and Principal Investigators Justin Moe, James McGrath-Seegmiller, and Jacque Dinnes have a combined 50 years of archaeological experience in the Midwest and elsewhere, while Principal Investigators Ray Werner and Jacob Noble have over a decade of experience in public and architectural history. We will continue the legacy of excellence established by our company’s recently departed previous owner, the State Historic Society of Iowa Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Leah D. Rogers (1956 – 2022).
All of our principal investigators meet or exceed the national professional standards set by the Secretary of the Interior.
Tallgrass Archaeology LLC has consulted on projects in most of Iowa's 99 counties.
